At Spar Hotel, we work long-term with environmental care, social sustainability, and quality. We want our two hotels to be good for our guests, our employees, and the city we operate in. Since 2006, we have been certified by Green Key, and we continue to develop our efforts every year.

What We Do Today

Both hotels are certified by Green Key.

We use 100% renewable electricity (Bra Miljöval).

Energy consumption is reduced through smart control of heating, ventilation, and lighting.

Housekeeping is carried out on request only, saving energy, water, and chemicals.

Only eco-labelled cleaning products and toiletries are used.

Single-use items are used only when necessary, such as coffee and tea amenities in the rooms.

We sort waste throughout the entire operation.

We work to increase the share of locally produced, organic, and vegetarian products.

We use only MSC- or ASC-certified fish and seafood.

We reduce transport emissions through consolidated deliveries and sustainable purchasing.

We work continuously with Stadsmissionen through various campaigns and initiatives. - Real Stars – Hotels Against Trafficking
We take a clear stand against trafficking. As part of RealStars’ industry initiative, we collaborate with the police whenever there is suspicion of criminal activity. - CleanSea – Björlanda Kile
We have adopted a coastal bay on the west coast through CleanSea. This means we fund several beach clean-ups each year and receive reports, photos, and statistics from every operation.

- We work actively to ensure fair conditions, a healthy work environment, and safe workplaces.

Quality & Safety
- We carry out regular internal checks of cleaning, breakfast, and service.
- Guest feedback from surveys and in-room cards is reviewed every week.
- We work actively with routines related to fire safety, workplace environment, and overall security.
- Staff receive ongoing training in service, sustainability, and safety.
- We use Valpas bed legs, which help us detect and prevent pests at an early stage – completely without chemicals.
